Body Percussion

 Hey Bloggers

In Class we have groups of 3 - 5, percussion is a musical instrument that is sounded by being struck or scraped by a beater including attached of enclosed beaters of rattles struck. body percussion is when you hit yourself to make a beat.

We had lots of try's to get it right but we did it.

Here is our music

2. 2x petri dishes

3. Paper towels

4. Marker pen

9. Beaker

10. Measuring Cylinder

Instructions

1. Get your equipment.

2. Put on your safety glasses

3. Using the marker pen, write the name of the conditions on the petri dish. DRY, WATER, SALTWATER, SUGERWATER.

4. weigh the Gummy bear and write on the petri dish.

Discussion
1. The normal water was transferred into the gummy bear the most.
2. The dry gummy bear lost 11g over a week
3. The sugar water diffused faster than the salt water.

Diffusion is a movement of a substance form an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration, Diffusion happens in liquids and gases because their particles move randomly from place to place. Diffusion is an important process for living things; it is how substances move in and out of cells.

Superhero

Hey Bloggers

In Nga tangata, Hurmanu 1 we studied the lives of some local, national and international Heroes.

A hero is a male or female or  group of people who gives courage to have a nice life with other people and they just save the day. I made slides about 6 sporting heroes. They were  Chelsea Bremner and Local  Kieran Read; National is Valerie Adams- National  Sam Cane; International  Usain Bolt- International  and Serena Williams.

I also made some slides about a local hero who achieved lots of books from Margaret Mahy and was famous in Christchurch. We read about a musical group called The Crowded House. They were said to be heroes for a day when they performed in Christchurch recently. We discussed the meaning of ‘Hero worship’. The hero I ‘Worship’ is, My Dad.

My Earthquake heroes I researched were, Air force Museum, Alison Gallant, Alison Partridge, Amo Pelerinli, Lucas Pelerinli, Andrea Cummings, Andrea Andrewson

and Anja Hansen.

I also wrote about myself as a superhero. My alias was Miss Colour.

Hi I am a superhero, I live in New Zealand and speak English, I like to help people and talk to people. I am a medium sized human and am fast and skinny. I am good with other animals.

Research the inventor and invention to the present day.

  1. Lots of people use it.

  2. The washing machine, in the powered version that we know it, has existed since 1908, though there were previous incarnations as well.

  3. Washing machines that load from the front, rather than from the top, are more efficient and clean their loads better.

Who came up with the idea of the washing machine Jacob Christian SchΓ€ffer in 1767

How did it improve. From hand washing in a river. to put your washing in and wait.

Kiwiana

 Hey Bloggers

In our Form Class we are learning about kiwiana, and this is what we get to chose from. I chose List 10 items that are classed as Kiwiana. There is a town called kiwiana.

List 10 items that are classed as Kiwiana.

Read the stuff article on Kiwiana and produce a persuasive written piece on  “whether it matters if Kiwiana products are made here in NZ or not”

Art work has always been a popular way for Kiwiana to be displayed in people’s home. Check out some examples here and then then recreate your own piece of art.

In Otorohanga New Zealand there is a town they have named Kiwiana town. Explore their story here. Then create an advertisement for one of the attractions.

Watch the video “Sounds of Kiwiana” how many kiwiana products can you identify? Find out the history about the song Poi E and how and why it originated.

What are some of the ways that this custom can be presented? Are there specific costumes, songs, dances, games, language,Materials, required?

Changing states of matter

To change of water from solid to liquid to gas

I think that the ice will melt first from the solid then the water will tern in to gas and steam up

1. Ice is placed in the beaker on the bench. Record its temperature.

2. Once the ice has thawed, the Bunsen burner is set up with the tripod, gauze mat, heat pad and mat and beaker.

3. The Bunsen burner is lit.

4. The thermometer is placed in the beaker of water

5. The findings are recorded on the chart.
